NAMI of Central Suffolk values difference and promotes cultural competence in all aspects of our work. We believe that every individual is a unique being, and we believe in person centered treatment. We focus on strengths, not weaknesses. We are wellness oriented, not illness oriented. We believe a person comprises physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual components; therefore, an individual’s path and plan to wellness needs to integrate all components. We believe in assisting people to be self- empowered and self- directed and believe that is how recovery, wellness and healing are fully achieved so that all people can participate freely in the opportunities of society.
